I take you to guitar center so you can watch me try out different delay pedals and then leave without buying anything.
Ended up selling my selling my Jet City head that Ben modded and made the face plate for and scraped together all the funds that I could…. only so that I could pick up this beast!
Dude, I can’t even begin to describe. It’s like the PERFECT amp for me, seriously. I wanted a little bit more power than the Jet City, with the clarity and cleans that it had, and that incredible headroom.
This head definitely does that and more. Super pedal friendly, chimey cleans if I want them, meaty cleans if I want them. Can be quiet in my tiny apartment while my wife is asleep, but roars when it needs to. The boosts give the already awesome base tone even more flexibility and options.
The 6550’s give me a little more low end than the Jet City had, and when you crank the amp it’s got the best power tube distortion.
I haven’t had a chance to use the recording line out yet, but just the option to have a tube DI now just blows my mind even more. Such a simple premise for an amp, but totally what I’m all about. My inner caveman loves the simplicity of ‘VOLUME’ and ‘TONE’.
Tonight’s session. I made a bow out of a coat hanger and a spare guitar string. #diy #guitar #gear #pedal #pedals #pedalboard #fender #fenderguitar #jaguar #fenderjaguar
P Bass Project- August 2013
This was my wife’s old Squier P Bass that I had bought off of her while we were still dating. I went to college and didn’t take the bass with me, it sat in a closet for 4 years and I didn’t dig it out for another almost 2 years after college.
Fast-forward to about a month ago, I get the idea to redo the bass completely. Swapped the stock Squier pickups for a set of Lace Aluma-P’s, wired them so that they can either be summed to one output jack, or split so that the top pickup is used for the two lower strings, and the bottom pickup is used for the four higher strings.
I also drilled and installed two new Grover Mini tuners and added a new Schaller 8 string bridge, along with installed a brass nut from AxeMasters and installed 2 octave strings on the D + G strings. Essentially the idea was to play the bottom half like a guitar and the top half like a bass. Ive been experimenting with different ways of playing the bass, but I’m having a lot of fun with it.
Definitely a fun, easy, worthwhile modification!
